Each year, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS / Pennhort) wrangles the who’s who of the Philadelphia restaurant scene into a four hour tasting event, at the PSH Warehouse in the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard. If you’ve never been, “the Navy Yard” as we Philadelphians like to call it, is a landscape of warehouses — which at one time worked to build boats and industrial machines. Now, it’s primarily known as the home of Urban Outfitters Headquarters (and their sister brands)… and of course, PHS.

Anyway, every year — foodies from across the land commune for the most anticipated event of the year PHeaSt. PHeaSt is Pennhort’s celebration of their City Harvest Program; the evening is meant to directly pair local growers to the area’s most prestigious epicurean destinations. (And, boy was the mission accomplished.)

This year, Brulee Catering was back with tasty macaroons (my favorite place for them!). Stephen Starr’s Buddakan was there — whipping up deliciousness. (Their team was loving the music!) Davio’s — an amazing must-visit (read: totally swanky) Rittenhouse restaurant / bar was there. (I love them. Especially on a Friday night after a long week. Such a great crowd.) One of my favorite dishes of the night though came from Supper; it was a BBQ Turkey Leg Biscuit (above). Hey, it doesn’t take much to please me — but these things were good. (I can’t lie, I had two.)

Also in attendance, the fabulous Chef Christine Hazel. (Although, she was in her zone — and a crowd was enjoying her cider braised bork belly, crispy brussels sprouts in dijon vinaigrette, horseradish creme fraiche, so we didn’t get to chat. Or, snap a pic. Next time!) If you’re not familiar, Christine Hazel is a chef from Philadelphia; she competed on the 14th Season of Hell’s Kitchen and has gone on to build a fabulous name for herself — and she’s so nice.

Oh… I almost forgot about the sips! (How could I forget about the alcoholic beverages?!) If you’re into vodka, Stoli & Tito’s were both there. (I can’t. Long story. Sorry guys.) Yards Brewery was there. And, one of my relatively new favorite (read: I’m totally obsessed with) Bank & Bourbon! They do some delicious twisted things with bourbon and juices — for us light weights. (They made me wonder why I hadn’t been drinking bourbon all of my life.)
