My Restaurant Bucket List

Must-try hotspots throughout the always sunny city.

I have a confession to make: I am a creature of habit when it comes to food. For me, “trying a new restaurant” has more-or-less been about experiencing the ambiance. Having grown up in the suburbs, I grew very accustomed to chain restaurants; I have no issue going to the same restaurants every week and ordering the same food over and over (and over!) again. I used to prefer to know exactly how my food is going to taste, and never wanted to sacrifice the entire meal because I didn’t like something.

Living in downtown Philadelphia is such a blessing — for a number of reasons. One of the biggest blessings by far is the overall culture; there are always so many exciting things happening at any given moment it’s {somewhat} difficult to get bored. (Though, I’ve managed it once or twice.) Philadelphia’s food scene has been booming for quite a while. Over the last three years or so we’ve seen more of a spike in restaurant openings than ever before.

Doing what I do affords me a lot of wonderful opportunities. I have access to more than most and there isn’t a day that goes by that I’m not grateful for it. Though, one thing I tend to take for granted are the amazing epicurean destinations that are scattered along my daily routes. Ever the creature of habit, I subconsciously remain devoted to only a handful of spaces and restaurants. Until now.

I have put together a Bucket List of restaurants throughout the always sunny city that I’ve never tried. It’s embarrassingly long at first glance, I admit, and there are some places on there that I’m pretty familiar with. Over the next few (read: many) weeks, I am hoping to move my weekly lunch meetings into these spaces and I’ll take to the blog to review them. Bear with me as photography was never a major of mine — and remembering to take the photo is more than two thirds the battle. Still, I’ll try my best to document as much as possible.

I am open to suggestions; just shoot me an email if there is a space you’d like to see. Check out the full list below:
