Social season has officially begun! On Monday, I ventured on over to the 23rd Street Armory in downtown Philadelphia for the annual Battle of the Burger — hosted by Budweiser and Philadelphia Magazine. (Thanks for the ticket Philly Mag!)

I know what you’re thinking: Burgers? Beer? Eric!? But, I’ve got to tell you… it was so much fun!

Truth be told, I’m not a big beer drinker. (It’s always the last resort.) And, I cannot tell you the last time I’ve eaten a burger. (Like, I think I’ve even missed meals to avoid them.) But, both have been on my list of things to try to enjoy, and by the end of the night, I had fully succeeded. (Probably thanks to the not one… not two… but three shots of Jack Daniels Fireball.)

Far from me to judge, I did — and I while I won’t tell you who I voted for, I’ll tell you the winner was Hawthornes. Their “Gnocchi Burger” is apparently the best in the city. (Now you know.) Incase you were wondering, Budweiser made it official with a trophy and a check for $3,000! (It was even a philanthropic event; portions of the events proceeds went to benefit the Philadelphia-based charity, Philabundance.)
